Archaeological Park Foundation Explores Two Newly Discovered Water Channels in Ravne Tunnel Labyrinth

On April 30, 2015, a scientific team led by Dr. Semir Osmanagich, discoverer of the Bosnian Pyramid Complex, explored two newly discovered water channels in Ravne Tunnel Labyrinth, a tunnel system that winds beneath the ancient pyramid complex in Visoko, Bosnia.

These water channels were open when they were discovered as side tunnels t-ing off of the main tunnel passage being excavated. 


Most of Ravne Tunnel Labyrinth's passageways were closed (filled to the brim) an estimated 4,600 years ago with "fill-in material" -- loose sand and small river stones. When Foundation workers encounter filled-in passages (most of them), the passages are excavated with shovels and wheelbarrows. This work has been progressing since December 2006, four months after Dr. Osmanagic discovered the tunnel entrance 2.5 kilometers northwest of the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun.

But these two water channels, and all water channels found to date in Ravne Tunnel, are fully open and need no excavation.

No one knows why the advanced culture who filled in this elaborate prehistoric tunnel system plugged approximately 90% of the tunnel's passageways but left the water channels completely open.

The two water channels explored for the first time on April 30, 2015 were found in early April at the "front" of the tunnel where work has been progressing throughout the winter. 

The water channels are approximately 500 winding meters from the entrance, and perhaps 35 meters beneath the surface.

The water in the channels is clear and in pristine condition. This has always been the case when water is found in channels or pools in Ravne Tunnel Labyrinth.



Satellite scans using ground-penetrating radar performed in 2011 and 2014 have shown that the labyrinth of winding tunnels that compose Ravne Tunnel meet with at least one tunnel that leads to another winding tunnel system beneath the Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun.

The entire tunnel system also connects to a tunnel beneath the Fojnica River to the Bosnian Pyramid of the Moon.
